But, 'In Stoker's own writing a person occasionally shows through, or, better, is exposed. Particularly in his later novels (and of course Dracula) there obtrudes the raw, harsh presence of a man endowed with nearly inexhaustible energy who is writing over, around, or under what he knows about loneliness and — predominantly — sexual terror.
